Hello everyone!
We have great news coming your way this week: the date when you'll be able to play the prototype of the game on Itch.io. We're so excited to finally unveil what we've been working on for the past two months and get your feedback. Here it is; put it in bold in your calendar:
Don't worry, we'll have a TBF to remind you about the prototype launch everywhere: on social media, on Discord… anywhere with a microphone. We want your feedback, your friends' feedback, and your grandma's feedback. You'll be able to play directly from your browser, or you can download the game on Windows or macOS to have a save file and keep your progress. You choose!
Keep in mind that this is only the prototype version we'll ship. There will be playtest versions, a demo version, and more in the coming weeks. It's a critical moment, as it'll allow us to take your feedback this early on to shape the game into the final product it'll become. We want to bring out the best version of the game possible, and we can't do that without your help!
In preparation for the prototype, we worked tirelessly to get the game into presentable shape. The first big improvement was the menus, which needed a facelift just for the prototype version.
This is just to make the prototype at least pleasant enough to look at and use. As we advance development, we'll rework the menus and user experience to be better, more aligned with the theme of the game (to be discussed in a future TBF!!) and overall more fun to use.
We also took the time to do some balancing for the cards and small touches here and there. Some of them were not easy to understand, so they've been reworded, changed, or balanced to make the experience more enjoyable!
Here's one example of such a change, which we hope will make it better and clearer to understand.
As you can see, we colour coded some key words like Mismatched and Matched, which are quite important in the game.
Let me tell you, this week we're 100% focused on making more final touches, adjustments, testing and balancing so that you have the best experience possible for the prototype launch. It's not the right time to add a new feature!
The Itch.io page will launch next week at the same time the TBF comes out. We hope to see you there in droves to test out what we've been cooking.
Onin*!
